Running out of time to prep your home for special occasion, such as valentine’s day or anniversary? Don’t worry! These three simple and easy tips will help you add romance to your home in less than 30 minutes.
Life can be busy sometimes. Without a reminder, I can easily forget those important dates: such as when my husband and I first started dating, our wedding anniversary, and of course, Valentine’s Day. Even it is not a special occasion, I would still want to add romance to my home here and there – it just make me feel happy and cozy.
These tips are aimed to help you create a romantic vibe in your home in less than 30 minutes, without any shopping. So if you are a last-minute planner as I am, check our the following 3 tips on adding romance to your home:
Tip #1. Add Fresh Flowers
One of the easiest way to add romance to your home is by adding fresh flowers. Plants add so much life to your home and even nice scent for flowers! Fresh flower can be completely free too! I usually just pick up some flower or branch from my backyard. If you don’t have access to free flowers, trader joe’s and whole food have a ton of beautiful flowers at very affordable price. They tend to range from $2 – $10. When I buy flowers from trader joe’s, I am able to divide one bouquet into three vases as the amount is pretty large.
I usually place a bouquet of flowers in my entry console table to set a welcoming stage. It is usually the largest flower bouquet I have in my home, as the console table serves more like a displaying place. I like to place medium sized flowers on my dining table or kitchen counter so they won’t get in my way of cooking or eating. Most of the time, I will place a small vase of flowers in my bedroom to add a touch of romance.
Tip #2. Add Soft Textile
Another quick way to add romance to your home is to bring out the textiles, such as decorative pillows and throws. As home decor lovers, I’m sure we all have a good inventory of pillows. Let’s be honest, our home probably don’t look like our instagram picture all the time right? Now is the time to bring the instagramable beauty back! Fluff your pillows and place them in the places they will shine. Nothing can be as easy as placing pillows to set a nice vibe in your home.
Drape some nice throws on your sofa and chairs. It doesn’t have to be “throws” you bought in a fancy decor store, pretty scarves and blanket will work just as well.
Tip #3. Add Romantic Lighting
Lighting is probably the most impactful to add romance to a space in my opinion. Dim the light and add some candles can really increase the romantic score in your home. Last weekend we had a power outage for over 24 hours, so I had to turn on some flameless candles we have when we were getting ready to sleep. Oh man, it set the mood in such a romantic way that I was fine with the power outage. I said to my husband that we should light candles all the time!
Besides candles(flameless or real one), I am a big fan of string light! Place them in a glass jar and you’ll gain some dreamy romantic vibe instantly!
So that’s it! Three simple and quick way to add romance to your home at the last minute, and for free! I hope you find these tips useful. I would also love to hear what’s your go-to recipes of adding romance to your home?
